No, it’s really a saying. We just said it.

“There is a saying that the Jews who are wealthy got that way not by watching dollars, but instead by taking care of the pennies and the dollars taking care of themselves [...] By not using earmarks to fund projects for South Carolina and instead using actual bills, [Sen. Jim] DeMint is watching our nation’s pennies and trying to preserve our country’s wealth and our economy’s viability to give all an opportunity to succeed.”

    HABBA HABBA HABBA WHAAAA???

On Meet the Press just now:

Orrin Hatch: “…the CBO says tens of millions of people are going to switch this public option and put private insurance out of business….”

David Gregory: “Excuse me, Senator, but that’s not what the CBO said. It said that at most, 10 million people would ultimately opt for the government plan.”

Orrin Hatch: “Yeah…that’s what I said. Tens of millions of people.”

Excuse me, Senator. But is English your second language?

The perils of being a twit.

So what happens when dumb GOP congressmen get a little too Twiiter-happy?

Exactly what should happen, that’s what.

    My sincerest apologies.

    kenny-jindal

As a native of the great state of Louisiana, let me be the first to say…

I have absolutely no idea what the hell that was. Other than excruciatingly embarrassing. I’ve been away from home for too long. I had no idea it had gotten this bad. Between Huck Finn here and the king of hip-hop, Michael “the Numbah-One Stunnah” Steele, I’d say that the GOP’s efforts to reenergize the party thus far are nothing short of catostrophic.

EDIT: HuffPo has the video feed from MSNBC, where it seems as if Keith’s Chris Matthews’ mic was open for just a few seconds too long as Jindal approached the podium. It caught him saying the exact same thing that millions of Americans collectively uttered at that moment.

EDIT AGAIN: Well whaddayaknow…guess who’s an alum of the very campus I’m sitting on as I write this? Mr. Kennth Parcell himself. Talk about stars aligning…

    McCain???

“I thought I was running against John McClane. This changes everything.”

As long as we’re discussing dipshit GOPs, let’s focus on the horse coming out of Tennessee. Apparently, Freddy D isn’t really all that interested in running for the big chair anyway. But that’s why he thinks he’s the best guy for the job. Whoa, Fred. You almost tripped me up there.

Now, I’ve said over and over again why I think we never have competent presidents. Because the type of person who wants to run for President is the exact one you don’t want in the White House. There are plenty of people out there with the intelligence, patience, and leadership skills required to effectively run this country. It just so happens that those are the same people who are way too smart to ever put themselves and their families through a presidential campaign.

My theory notwithstanding, I’m not buying this ploy by Thompson. I think he’s just lazy. If I were a contributor to his campaign, I’d have a serious case of the red ass right now. Reportedly, when asked to comment on all the early supporters of his who now want their money back, Thompson borrowed a line from his character in Die Hard 2: “The line starts at the Mississippi and they better start taking numbers.”

    Yee-haw.
