    The Dude

    Still abiding . . . academically!!!

Brandt:  You never went to college . . .

The Dude:  Oh, no I did, but I spent most of my time occupying various administration buildings… smoking a lot of thai stick… breaking into the ROTC… and bowling. To tell you the truth Brandt, I don’t remember most of it.

Maybe the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers will one day study the other Jeffrey Lebowski.

    So there’s a tick

    Ms. Ebeneezer Scrooge

This woman clearly falls under Tick #1: “You’ve got a fellow over ‘ere ‘o isn’t ‘appy because their friend bought ‘em a goat.”

Speaking of which, I think it’s about time for the HBO version of this:

The clips of the HBO series I’ve seen so far are fucking money. Can’t wait.

Well, a goat is better than a monkey. Especially a monkey that likes to eat genitals.

They will sell millions of these.

I want to make fun of this, but if I lived in a non-urban area north of the Mason-Dixon Line and spent a lot of time outdoors in the winter I could see myself . . . nah, I still wouldn’t buy one. This is high-collared felt bib. It’s called zipping your jacket all the way up, people.

Sheeeut. That ain’t nuthin’ but a suede dickey with Velcro.

And it fills up my gaping hole. Mmm…I’ll take two.

I love how these ads always show the worst possible scenario when using the “traditional” product. My personal favorite…Backyard brush removal machine: Woman getting tangled up in weed-eater twine and falling down a hill.

Here’s a tip. Not getting your scarf caught in a car door is accomplished by being a motherfucking adult human being with opposable thumbs and basic hand-eye coordination.

Esquire has a feature about Blakroc in its most recent issue. OF COURSE they get Dan and Pat mixed up in the caption to the accompanying picture. RZA was somehow identified correctly, though.

Negative. Keep meaning to download it. Maybe tonight.

I downloaded it last night. It’s really very good. Of course, I enjoy the hippity hop – as the kids call it – including most of the artists featured (esp. Raekwon, RZA & Mos Def), I think I was inclined to enjoy it.

That Nicole Wray is a good singer, too.

Does Karl Pilkington Know About This?

5 Escaped Monkeys Captured In Central Fla.

LAKELAND, Fla. — Five of the 15 monkeys that escaped a facility in Polk County have been captured, officials said.

Lex Salisbury, the director of the preserve, said Monday that the capture of the remaining 10 monkeys is imminent because trappers know where they are living.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the monkeys apparently escaped their island home by swimming across a pond — something they’re not supposed to be able to do.

The monkeys escaped April 19 at the soon-to-be-open Safari Wild preserve.

Officials said the social but calm Patas monkeys are of no threat to people.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the search will continue until the remaining monkeys are captured.

People who don’t forward on bits and bops of monkey news…do we need ‘em?

Judging from the automatically generated “possibly related posts”, the baldheadedmanc hasn’t been keeping up with one of our favorite things. This would never happen if duderino was still alive.

The reunion podcast on NME Radio is pretty good, though. Karl doesn’t like Boston, but they did have summat to do with teabags there.

    Levon Helm . . . Allegedly.

Alright, alright, alright!  I thought someone would have reviewed the past weekend in New York City by now, but it looks like it’s up to me, your friendly host for the festivities, to fill in our four other readers on what happened.

Well, I didn’t take the “actually, it’s really nice, dude,” bus from D.C. on Friday, so I can’t speak as to how the trip was for duderino, mylephnt, and elbows (Is that right?  Is that the new handle?).  But I heard that the five+ hours just flew by, and was made easier by the existence of a top-notch douchebag (not duderino) who, predictably and hilariously, hit on the one true piece of eye-candy on the bus.

Anyway, after arriving at the apartment of yours truly, and seeing as it was already midnight, the four of us headed out to see what kind of trouble we could get into.  (More …)

Actually, I know why you stopped there – b/c that is when you stopped remembering… (Ed. note: He’s right)

Timber said he’s collecting stories from all those involved and stitching together an official record of the events.

He says to please be patient…he “has no fucking opposable thumbs,” as he put it. i don’t know where the anger comes from.

Timber is probably still pissed about the cross-country flight with no beverage service or pretzals.

“The Wire” Recap – Episode 1

So, for my first post on the Ramble, I’ve been asked to write a recap of the first episode of the final season of THE GREATEST SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION (i.e., The Wire). Now, I started out writing a synopsis of each plot-line, but after spending three paragraphs on the newsroom alone, I knew this would get swiftly out of hand. And besides, who among us contributors (and our thousands of voracious readers) did not see the show tonight? Anyone? Exactly. So, after the jump, I thought I would make some quick notes about what I liked, did not like, and any other observations/opinions that came to mind. (Disclaimer: I did walk back and forth from the kitchen a few times during the course of the episode, so I may have missed some otherwise obvious things.) (More …)
